ACCA Nepal and NCA College of Management Host Training for Educators on International Financial Reporting Standards

ACCA Nepal, in collaboration with NCA College of Management, organized a one-day training program on Saturday in Biratnagar, Morang, for teachers from three districts of Koshi Province. The event, which took place on Ashar 8, 2081, aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of 80 teachers from 70 colleges in Morang and Sunsari who teach accounting subjects in grades 11 and 12 as well as in BBA and BBS programs.

The training focused on the Certificate in International Financial Reporting Standard (Cert IFR) and incorporated new curriculum content recently added to the courses. Suresh Pandit, President of NCA College, chaired the inaugural session, while Rabin Katwal, Head of ACCA Nepal, welcomed the chief guests, distinguished guests, and participating teachers, highlighting the program's purpose and significance.

During the event, the guests were presented with tokens of appreciation. Prof. Dr. Bijukumar Thapaliya, Vice-Chancellor of Purbanchal University, inaugurated the program by lighting a ceremonial lamp and delivering an address emphasizing the importance of IFRS in Nepal and the necessity for new discussions in the field of education.

Other notable speakers included Prof. Binod Aryal, Executive Director of Madan Bhandari Memorial Foundation; Kedar Prasad Guragain, Mayor of Sundarharaicha Municipality; Bheshraj Pokharel, Central Vice-President of HISSAN; Jeevan Gadtaula, Head of National Examination Board Biratnagar; Rajan Poudel, President of NPABSON Koshi Province; and Drona Bahadur Shrestha, President of Nepal National Teachers' Organization Jhapa. They all extended their best wishes for the program's success and underscored its relevance and utility, particularly in light of recent curriculum changes for grades 11 and 12.

The event saw attendance from presidents of HISSAN, PABSON, NPABSON, and various teacher organizations from Morang, Sunsari, and Jhapa districts. Prof. Binod Aryal highlighted the global popularity of the International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS) and suggested that all education sector members should be informed about it. Jeevan Gadtola noted that the training is highly pertinent and useful given the recent curriculum changes by the National Examination Board.

NCA College has been providing quality ACCA professional education to Nepali students for the past 20 years. In 2010, the college was recognized as an Approved Learning Partner-Gold by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK, and it was the first college in Nepal to receive approval from the Ministry of Education to conduct ACCA preparatory classes.

The training session was conducted by Karna Thapa, while Suresh Pandit provided information about the ACCA course and NCA College. The program concluded with Jeevan Gadtola distributing certificates to the participants. The event was coordinated and conducted by educationist Narayan Acharya.
