The government announced a 15% salary increase for all government employees, including government officials, teachers, and security officers, in the budget announcement for Fiscal Year 079/80. They will be paid effectively starting from Shrawan 01, 2079. When presenting the budget for the fiscal year 2079/80, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma remarked that the remuneration had been increased by 15% to incentivize them to enhance the price of service.

In addition to their wages, employees from the chief secretary to the office secretary receive a lump sum monthly allowance of Rs 2,000. Every year, they also get a pay boost of one grade. They are also granted a dress allowance once a year.
Minister Sharma announced the formation of a high-level commission to review the minimum salary for civil servants, research the minimum wage for workers, and provide recommendations to the Nepalese government.
