12th convocation of Pokhara University held

Around 4,000 students took part in the 12th convocation of Pokhara University held on June 3, 2015. 

Students graduating with the Bachelors, Masters', M.phil. and PhD degrees from  five constituent  schools/councils and 58 affiliated colleges took part at the event organized at the Pokhara Exhibition Center, Pokhara. 

Pokhara University has been running various programs under faculties of Management, Science and Technology, and Humanities and Social sciences. Under these streams, there are 14 programs including 9 in Bachelors Degree, 4 in Masters and the PhD are into full fledged operation in its constituent schools and Council at Khudi, Dhungepatan in Lekhanath.

Addressing the convocation, Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation Mahesh Acharya emphasized on the role of the youth force in the reconstruction of the country, especially in the aftermath of the destructive April 25 earthquake.

Educationist Prof Kedar Bhakta Mathema said the graduates' moral force and education would help them guide towards a future bright.

Vice-chancellor of the University Prof Dr Bishnu Raj Tiwari wished the graduates all success in utilizing their knowledge in building their and the country's future.

Some 2,800 students are presently studying at the University. Pokhara University is running 16 programs in Masters, 27 in Bachelors and 1 in Post Graduate Diploma programs.

Pokhara University has successfully organized all 11 convocation ceremony. The University’s first convocation ceremony was held on January 20, 2002. 11th Convocation was held on April 11, 2014. Altogether 13,903 students from different streams have graduated from different levels from the university till 11th Convocation. More than 3,936 students are going to be graduated in the 12th Convocation.

The topper in Masters programs from different disciplines and highest scorers in Bachelors will be awarded with Chancellors’ Medal and Vice-Chancellor’s medal respectively. The topper in Masters from Management will be awarded with Laxmi Vidhya Medal-2071 on the ceremony.

OCM Gold Medal-2071 will be awarded the highest scorer in BCA and Janata Bank limited will provide years one job to the highest topper in MBA program student. The University will be awarding with Dean List Achievement to the students scoring 3.7 CGPA and above in Bachelors programs and 3.8 CGPA and above in Masters programs.
