Staff Nurse Exam: Lok Sewa Aayog

​Public Service Commission (Lok Sewa Aayog) selects candidates for Staff Nurses for the Nepal Health Service. Pradesh Loksewa Aayog may have a separate syllabus for the selection of staff nurse candidates. In this post, we have given major emphasis to the exam plan of Central Lok Sewa Aayog, and the curriculum for the staff nurse selection in provinces is given in the syllabus section.

The syllabus plan for the Open Competitive Examination for Nepal Health Service, General Nursing Group, Assistant Fifth Level, Staff Nurse is divided into two phases: the first phase and the second phase.

First Phase: Written Examination (200 Marks)

 

This exam is for the selection of Staff Nurse (Assistant Fifth Level) who will work under the Nepal Health Service, General Nursing Group.

The medium language of the written examination question paper will be either Nepali or English, based on the language in which the syllabus content is provided. However, both languages may be used if clarification of the subject matter is necessary. The medium language of the written examination answers will be Nepali, English, or both Nepali and English.

The written examination consists of two papers:

First Paper: General Awareness & Public Management, and Job-Based Knowledge

  • Marks: 100
  • Structure:
    • 20 MCQs of two marks each on General Awareness and Public Management
    • 30 MCQs of two marks each on Job-Based Knowledge
  • Passing Marks: 40
  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Scoring:
    • For objective multiple-choice questions, 20 percent of the marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
    • No marks will be awarded or deducted for unanswered questions.
    • The use of any type of calculator is not allowed.
    • Candidates must write answers using capital letters: A, B, C, D. If small letters (a, b, c, d) or any other symbols are used, the entire answer sheet will be canceled.

Second Paper: Subjective Questions

  • Marks: 100
  • Structure:
    • 12 questions of 5 marks each
    • 4 questions of 10 marks each
    • Long questions, parts of a single question, or short notes under one question may be asked.
  • Passing Marks: 40
  • Duration: 2 hours and 15 minutes
  • Scoring:
    • Separate answer booklets for each section.
    • Candidates must write answers for each section's questions in the respective section's answer booklet.

The written examinations for the first and second papers will be separate but conducted on the same day. The number of questions, marks, and weightage in the examination will be as specified in the relevant paper/subject.

Second Phase: Interview

  • Marks: 30
  • Only candidates selected from the first phase of the written examination will be eligible to participate in the interview.

The interview phase will assess candidates based on various criteria relevant to the Staff Nurse position.

Eligibility

Academic Qualification

The applicant should have passed PCL Nursing from a recognized academic institution. 

Age Limit

Candidates must be at least 18 and not over 45 years old (this is a special provision under Health Service Group). 

There is no age limit for permanent staff of the Government of Nepal who are currently in service.

Syllabus

This syllabus of Staff Nurse (Assistant Fifth Level), General Nursing Group, under Nepal Health Service was implemented from 2080/10/22. The syllabus which was in user earlier has been cancelled.
