Ranger (Assistant Forest Officer)

Public Service Commission (Lok Sewa Aayog) selects candidates for First Class Non-Gazetted Positions, Ranger / Assistant Forest Officer / Soil Conservation Assistant. 

The syllabus plan for the Open Competitive Examination for Nepal Forestry Service under General Forestry, National Parks and Wildlife, Soil and Water Conservation, and Forest Research Groups is divided into two phases: the first phase and the second phase.

First Phase: Written Examination (200 Marks)

The medium language of the written examination question paper will be either Nepali or English, based on the language in which the syllabus content is provided. However, both languages may be used if clarification of the subject matter is necessary.

The medium language of the written examination answers will be Nepali, English, or both Nepali and English.

The written examination consists of two papers. The first paper concerns General Awareness & Public Management, and Job-Based Knowledge. It is 100 marks; 20 MCQs of two marks each will be asked about General Awareness and Public Management, and 30 MCQs of two marks each will be asked about Job-Based Knowledge. To pass the examination, the applicant should secure 40 marks. The total duration of the examination is 45 minutes. 

For objective multiple-choice questions, 20 percent of the marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer. However, no marks will be awarded or deducted for unanswered questions. The use of any type of calculator is not allowed in examinations with multiple-choice questions.

In examinations with multiple-choice questions, candidates must write answers using capital letters: A, B, C, D. If small letters (a, b, c, d) or any other symbols are used, the entire answer sheet will be canceled.

The second paper contains Subjective Questions of both Short-Answer and long-answer types. It will include 12 questions of 5 marks each and four questions of 10 marks each. For subjective questions, a long question with the specified marks, two or more parts of a single question, or two or more short notes under one question may be asked.

For subjective questions, there will be separate answer booklets for each section. Candidates must write answers for each section's questions in the respective section's answer booklet.

The total marks are 100, and to pass, the candidate should secure 40 marks. The total duration of the examination is 2 hours and 15 minutes. 

The written examinations for the first and second papers will be separate but conducted on the same day. The number of questions, marks, and weightage in the examination will be as specified in the relevant paper/subject.

Second Phase: Interview (30 Marks)

Only candidates selected from the first phase of the written examination will be eligible to participate in the second phase. The second phase is about interviews with 30 marks.
