National Licensure Examination for Midwives (NLEM)

Nepal Nursing Council conducts Licensure Examination for Midwives (Registration Certificate Examination) for Midwives. The candidates appearing for the National Licensure Examination for Midwives (NLEM) must have completed the Bachelor in Midwifery Science (BMS).

The examination fee for midwives (NLEM) is NPR 4,100 (four thousand one hundred rupees). The application form for the examination can only be filled out online; there is no provision for submitting the application form through any other medium.

The National Licensure Examination for Midwives is a comprehensive assessment that evaluates the knowledge and skills of aspiring midwives. The written examination for the registration certificate consists of 150 questions specifically focused on midwifery topics, with a total score of 150. To pass the test, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 50%. 

However, the assessment for the midwifery qualification goes beyond the written test. There is an additional practical examination worth 50 marks, where candidates must demonstrate their proficiency in practical skills. In this practical examination, a minimum score of 80% is required to pass. This rigorous evaluation ensures that aspiring midwives possess theoretical knowledge and practical competence, upholding the standards of the midwifery profession.
