Introduction

Nepal Academy of Science and Technology is an autonomous statutory body established with a mandate to work for the promotion and development of Science and Technology (S&T) in the country. As an apex body of its kind in S&T, it has the statutory obligation for providing a forum for all scientists and technologists working in different institutions of the country. The National Science Conference is one forum of the areas for scientists and technologists from all disciplines. The conference known as the congress provides an opportunity to the scientists and technologists not only to present their research findings but also to share their experiences and views about the national policies on S & T and its relevance for the development of the nation. NAST organized five national conferences in the past. The congress is usually held in interval of each four years. The last conference was organized in 2008. Following its
tradition, the Academy is pleased to announce to hold the Sixth National Conference on Science and Technology from June 6-8, 2012.

Conference Theme
“Economic Growth through Science, Technology and Innovation” has been coined as the theme of the sixth conference. The conference will seek to showcase how the broad range of research programs in the field of S&T along with innovation contributes to the economic growth and national development. It aims at bringing the scholars, scientists and experts together on the same platform in order to discuss, interact and debate about the plausible explanation of the economic growth through the innovation of S&T.

Scientific Programs

The scientific program of the conference will include invited key note addresses, plenary lectures, oral and poster presentations. Sectional sessions will be held for paper presentations as categorized in the following disciplinary areas.

  1. Physical Sciences (including Earth Science and Astronomy)
  2. Chemical Sciences
  3. Biological Sciences
  4. Mathematical Sciences (including Statistics)
  5. Agriculture and Animal Sciences
  6. Engineering and Technology/Energy
  7. Medicine and Health Sciences
  8. Biotechnology and Food Technology
  9. Forestry, Environment and Climate Change
  10. Information and Communication Technology
  11. Science Education and Public Understanding

Registration

All those who are interested in taking part in the conference need to register their names. The registeration fee includes the cost of documents and refreshment provided during the conference. The fees for registeration will be as following:
Nepali Participants

  1. Institutional: NPR 3000.00/- person
  2. Individual: NPR 1500.00/- person

Foreign Participants
SAARC Countries: US$ 200.00/ person
Other Countries: US$ 500.00/ person
The fees can be paid by bank transfer (T/T or M/T), bank
draft/voucher or money order (D/D) payable to the NAST.

Call for Papers
Participants are requested to send the abstracts of their presentation in the standard format along with the pre- registration form attached with this brochure by April 12, 2012 (Chaitra 30, 2068). The abstract not exceeding 250 words should be submitted in an electronic version. If there are several authors the name of the presenting author should be underlined. The abstract will be reviewed
