SOMES Launches Zenix 2021: IOE Pulchowk

Society of Mechanical Engineering Students (SOMES), IOE, Pulchowk Campus officially started the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Virtual Fair Zenix-2021 from Shrawan 16th (July 31). The virtual fair is aimed to promote healthy competition that keeps contestants away from the pandemic blues. The virtual fair started with the Physics-Mathematics Olympiad as one of the 7 sets of competitions each packed with entertainment and possibilities. The Olympiad was followed by a brain Teaser game, an exclusive event of the Photography Contest on July 30 at 10:00 am.  

1. Physics-Mathematics Olympiad:

The Olympiad where students from plus two levels will be participating is one of the efforts of SOMES to promote Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering among high school students. The questions will be based on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects and hope to encourage students to pursue a career in the same. 

2. Photography Contest : 

Students from any field will be eligible to participate in the Photography Contest and aim to encourage pursuing a side skill among most engineering students. The contest starts today (August 1) and will run till August 10.

3. Project Demonstration : 

Project Demonstration is targeted at secondary level school students, where students will be presenting a project based on Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field. It is a promising opportunity for secondary-level students to showcase their creativity and interest in STEM. The registration for the event is open till August 2 and the event is scheduled to take place on August 12.

4. Ideathon :

Ideathon is introduced at ZENIX to develop entrepreneurship skills among students. Students enrolled in bachelors-level across the country are eligible to participate in the competition where they'll be presenting ideas on a specific theme. The theme for this year's Ideathon is Go green challenge: Ideas promoting sustainability. Registrations for the competition is open till August 3 and the event is scheduled to be held from August 5 till August 7.  

5. Online Gaming Competition:

A PUBG tournament has been organized as part of an online gaming competition for the virtual fair 2021. Online Gaming Competition is included as a part of the fair as it is believed to play a supplementary role in enhancing students' skills and help them in learning. It is also a commonly cited mental stress reliever.  

6. School Level Quiz Competition (Grade 8-10): 

Science-Mathematics Quiz Competition is targeted at school level students of grades 8,9 and 10. The Competition along with the Project Demonstration event is organized every year with an aim to motivate and encourage school-level students' interest in the field of Engineering. Real-life Mathematics and Science-based questions are designed for the competition which is scheduled to be held on August 7. Registration for the same will close on August 4.

7. BE Design Competition:

The 3D Design Competition is open for students of Mechanical, Automobile, and Aerospace Engineering all over Nepal. The theme for this year's competition is Coping COVID with Engineering and students will be competing by designing a 3D model in the theme. Registration for the design competition is open till August 4 and the event will take place from August 5 till August 7.
