Heading the charge is Dr. Om Murti Anil, a respected cardiologist, who is spearheading a two-week awareness campaign titled “Smokers are not selfish” aimed at discouraging smoking and tobacco use.

Given the recent uptick in smoking and tobacco consumption among school students in Nepal, the Foundation underscores the critical importance of educating students about the detrimental effects. With the average age of smoking initiation in Nepal being 17, health issues often arise in early adulthood.

Dr. Anil emphasizes the need to inform students about the health risks associated with smoking, believing that educated students will be less likely to smoke and can discourage others from doing so.

In pursuit of this goal, the Foundation has arranged a 'School-level open nationwide poetry, painting, and quiz competition' to illustrate the harmful effects of smoking and tobacco use on users' health, as well as on their families and friends. Anil also points out the opportunity for online participation in the competition, widening its reach to a broader audience.
