Kathmandu Model College (KMC) is organizing a sensitization program that is expected to help faculties, as well as students, get more clarity on the Bachelors in Computer Application (BCA) program offered by the college under the affiliation of the Tribhuvan University. Moreover, the program directors/managers, institutions’ heads are also expected to benefit from this type of program.

The sensitization is also expected to help students and faculties understand the horizontal and vertical relationships of different Computer Courses along with other social science courses.

Objectives of the sensitization program:

  1. To find the uniqueness of the BCA Program.
  2. To assess and analyze the BCA Course in relation to employability in the context of Nepal.
  3. To compare and contrast  BCA course with other IT related courses offered by universities ( Mainly by TU)
  4. To evaluate the necessity of the social sciences and management course to make this course interdisciplinary.
  5. To implement the best teaching-learning strategies in the BCA program.

Resource persons:

  1.  Prof. Dr. Subarna Shakya 

 Dr. Shakya is Experienced Computer Faculty with a demonstrated history of working in the information technology and services industry. Skilled in Government, Information Systems Project Management, Databases, Software Design, and Information Systems. Strong engineering professional with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) focused in Computer Engineering from Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Currently, he is working as Professor at the Institute Of Engineering, Tribhuvan University, Nepal, Visiting Professor, Brown University, RI, USA Direc.

  1. Dr. Bhoj Raj Ghimire 

Dr. Ghimire is a graduate in computer science, a postgraduate in computer application, and a doctorate in Remote Sensing and GIS. He is an assistant professor and a program head of the MPhil ICT program at Nepal Open University. He has more than 12 years of university teaching experience and more than 15 years in the software industry. Dr. Ghimire is an ICT advisor to ministries, municipalities, and many government offices in Nepal.  He is also an entrepreneur.

Modality

The program will be organized ONLINE  by KMC supported by the Dean's Office of FOHSS TU. The dean’s office of  Humanities and Social Sciences takes guardianship and recommends the suitable candidate as a resource person. Furthermore, the Dean's office will help to inform all the colleges running the BCA program to participate in the program by sending 2 faculty in the program. The Dean of the program will be the Chief Guest and address the participants.

Time: 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM 

Target Audience and Entry Fee

Faculties teaching any subject in the BCA program in the constituent and affiliated colleges under Tribhuvan University. Participants should fill out the online form to ensure participation in the program.  

The program is free of cost, therefore no entry fee will be charged.
