Kathmandu Bernhardt College on Baishakh 4, Saturday (April 17) successfully conducted the orientation program of the students enrolled in Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology (BSc CSIT), Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA), and Bachelor in Business Management (BBM) programs. The orientation program was held in Hotel Soaltee Crowne Plaza with the vice-chancellor (VC) of Nepal Institute of Science and Technology (NIST), Dr. Sunil Babu Shrestha as the chief guest. Dr. Shrestha speaking in the orientation emphasized the need for development in the field of information and technology for building a prosperous society.
In the program chaired by Mr. Bhupesh Chatkuli, chairman of the Management Committee of the College, Mr. Sahadev Sigdel, Campus Head, welcomed all the participants and shed light on the objectives, policies, and strategies of the College.
Mr. Suman Sharma, Executive Director, Sunrise Bank, briefed the participants about the Entrepreneurs and how the students studying Information Technology (IT) at the college had done some important work for the IT department of the bank.
Talking in detail about the IT discipline, IT expert Dr. Bhojraj Ghimire, Mr. Rumkant Pandey, and Mr. Alok Pandey shared that the students of this generation need to move away from job orientation towards job creation. For this, they informed that the college had dedicated itself to offering practical extra credit courses and suggested it continue to do so in the future.
Mr. Ravindra Neupane, Secretary, Barnhardt Alumni, presented the Tracer Report to the new students while, Dr. Om Prakash Sharma, the former registrar discussed education in Nepal. Before concluding the program, the students presented a cultural show and organized a few games.
