The MPhil in Environmental Science program of Kathmandu University is designed to cultivate self-motivated, confident, and creative graduates who possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit. The department aims to be a center of excellence in environmental education and research, addressing the demand for skilled professionals in areas such as research, development, impact assessments, standards monitoring, management, conservation, legal measures, and policy formulation.

This program provides a rigorous academic experience with a focus on local, national, regional, and global environmental issues. It also emphasizes collaborative research with both national and international organizations and academic institutions.

The course is offered in two formats: a full-time program lasting 18 months and a part-time program spanning 30 months, accommodating diverse professional and academic commitments.

Eligibility

  1. For M.S. by Research, a minimum of first division in Bachelor's level examination or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 or above is required in the relevant subject.
  2. For M.Phil., a minimum of first division in Master's level examination or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 or above is required in the relevant subject based on at least 16 years of study (10+2+2+2).
  3. For M.S. by Research, after completing a four-year Bachelor's degree, at least one year of research experience and a minimum of one published article or paper in a peer-reviewed or university-approved journal is mandatory.
