Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Buddhist Studies (three years full-time equivalent) is a rigorous program of advanced study and research. This program is intended to produce graduates with the capacity to conduct research independently at a high level of originality and quality.

Admission Criteria

Application form can be filled up as follows:

  • fill up personal and academic information completely
  • paste your photograph
  • scan and post as attachment to the university email: facultyofbuddhiststudies@lbu.edu.np

Be sure to submit the completed online application form along with the necessary documents and fees before the deadline.

In the beginning, pay the required article evaluation fee  (non-refundable) within the specified time (referred to as article evaluation fee (5) in the fee structure).

Documents to be submitted

  • Completed Application Form
  • A copy of the research proposal in which, a short introduction of the research intending to do by the candidate, objectives, and research method are included. The subject matter should directly or indirectly be related to Buddhism, Buddhist philosophy, education, or culture.
  • Bank voucher/transaction code as evidence of application fee payment
  • Passport-size Photo.
  • Attested copy of Mark Sheet/Transcript of Masters level
  • Attested copy of Citizenship (Passport copy for foreign students)
  • All the relevant documents obtained by the applicant and the photocopies of certified certificates
  • Bio-data
  • Three articles compulsory

Photograph Requirements

  • Photograph must be in color.
  • Photograph must be a recent photo of the candidate.
  • Face must be clearly visible with plain background.
  • At least 50-60 % of image must be covered with face.
  • Size of the photo must not be larger than 500 KB.
