A total of Ten Candidates will be admitted in Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Technology (B.Sc. MIT) program of BPKIHS . The course of studies leading to B.Sc. Nursing and B.Sc. MIT degree of the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences shall last for a minimum of 4 academic years. The maximum limit of the study period of course will not be more than 8 years from the date of course started.

B.Sc MIT seats at BPKIHS are divided between Nepali and SAARC/Sponsored candidates as follows:

Heavily Subsidized Tuition Fee Scheme (HSTFS):

Admission criteria

Entrance Examination

Admission either in HSTFS or FTFS seats will be based entirely on merit as judged through Entrance Examination comprising of multiple choice questions in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, General Knowledge and Aptitude for the specialty.

The Entrance Examination will be of 3½ hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 objective- type questions. The language of the question paper will be English. The distribution of marks will be as follows:

  1. 10+2/I. Sc. (Physics, Chemistry, Biology & English) - 100
    (25 marks from each subject)
  2. Health/Medical Imaging Sciences - 100

The general standard of the Entrance examination will be that of the Intermediate Science, 12th class under the 10+2 system or an equivalent examination of Higher Secondary Council.

No syllabus for the examination has been specifically prescribed by BPKIHS.

Application form submission criteria:

  1. Candidate must submit his/her application online only. There is no provision for manual submission of application.
  2. Instructions to submit online application is available on the institute’s website: entrance.bpkihs.edu. Follow the link provided on home page to proceed. Please follow the instructions carefully before filling the online application forms.
  3. Scanned copies of all the essential certificates/documents (as mentioned in Page. No. 9), photo & signature must be uploaded along with the application as and where necessary. The full signature of the selected candidate’s will be verified at the time of entrance examination and admission. A photograph and digital thumbprint of the candidate will be taken during the entrance examination for verification of her identity and for keeping institutional record.

Documents to be uploaded for completion of application form:

Scanned copies of each of the following original documents (scanned copies of photocopies will not be accepted):

  1. Transcript of I. Sc., Class XII of 10+2 system or A-level or equivalent examination. (Internet & fax printout is not acceptable).
  2. Passport/ citizenship (both sides)/ residential certificate with photograph/ election card.
  3. Bank voucher/swift transfer receipt

Note: Applications will be rejected if scanned copies of photocopies are uploaded.

Salient features

Attendance: In order to be eligible to appear in the annual examination the students should have at least 80% attendance in each of theory, practical, clinical posting & field postings separately during the academic year.

Pass Marks: Students must secure 50% marks in theory & practical examinations in each subject/paper separately to pass the final assessment.

Number of Attempts: A student declared unsuccessful in the first year examination will be allowed a maximum of three more attempts. Any student who fails to clear the first year examination in four attempts (including the first one) will be required to leave the course.

The registration of the candidates failing to complete the course within 8 years from the academic year of admission will be cancelled.


Eligibility

Candidates who:

  • have passed I.Sc. or 10+2 (science stream) or equivalent examinations; and
  • are at least 17 years of age by the last date of application are eligible for B.Sc.MIT course.

OR

Candidates who have passed certificate level course 2½ years after SLC or I.Sc. in Radiography from institutions recognized by the BPKIHS.

Other Important Information:

In case of those candidates who have passed the I.Sc. without appearing in one or more of the essential subject(s), viz. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, but passed that/those subject(s) at a subsequent examination, the marks actually secured by them in the subject(s) at the subsequent examination will be considered for calculating the percentage of marks in the qualifying examination.

Eligibility Criteria for the BPKIHS Faculty/Staff Seat: One seat is reserved for son or daughter of BPKIHS Nepali permanent faculty/staff who have continuously served the Institute for 3 years (part time staff are not eligible). The selection of candidates in this seat will also be completely on the basis of merit of the Entrance examination. After the selection of the child the staff has to continue his/her services at least for further 4 years if the Institute requires his/her services. Failure to comply with this rule, the parent of the student (faculty/staff) will have to pay tuition fee as decided by the Institute.

Admission time: Generally, new admission for Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging Technology (B.Sc. MIT) in BPKIHS is opened in the month of June and entrance exam is conducted on July/August every year.
