To meet the growing demand for skilled IT professionals, Far Western University has launched the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) program for the academic year 2082/2083 B.S. The program is introduced under the Faculty of Science and Technology as part of the university’s continued commitment to expanding quality IT education.
Far Western University, established under the Far Western University Act, 2067 B.S., has been offering the B.Sc. CSIT program since 2069 B.S., initially enrolling just six students. The Department of CSIT was formally established in 2074 B.S., and in 2080 B.S., it began offering the M.Sc. The CSIT program. Due to increasing interest, the B.Sc. CSIT intake was expanded in 2081 B.S. to two sections of 48 students each. Building on this progress, the university is now introducing the BIT program to further strengthen its role in producing qualified IT graduates.
BIT is designed to meet the standards of courses offered at both national and international universities. The program offers students a blend of fundamental and core IT courses, along with a selection of elective subjects. To be eligible for the program, students must have completed twelve years of education or hold an equivalent qualification from a recognized board. The entire course totals 121 credit hours, covering information technology and related fields like mathematics, statistics, and management. Graduates are prepared for a variety of careers, including roles in software development, cybersecurity, database administration, and network and system administration.
At present, Far Western University's Central Department of Computer Science and Information Technology and the Kailali Multiple Campus are offering the program.
