The Bachelor in International Relations and Diplomacy (BIRD) is an undergraduate program affiliated with Kathmandu University that prepares students to understand and engage with contemporary global affairs, international politics, diplomacy, and foreign policy. The program combines theoretical knowledge with practical learning experiences to help students develop the analytical, communication, and leadership skills required in an increasingly interconnected world.

The curriculum covers key areas of international relations, including geopolitics, diplomacy, international security, global governance, foreign policy, and the international political economy. Students gain a deeper understanding of regional and global issues, with particular attention to South Asia and its evolving role in international affairs.

To enhance global competence, the program incorporates foreign language studies, including Chinese language courses, enabling students to develop cross-cultural communication skills that are increasingly valuable in diplomacy, international business, and global engagement.

The program also addresses emerging global challenges and contemporary topics such as artificial intelligence, energy diplomacy, migration, and international cooperation. Through project work, internships, and practical learning activities, students gain firsthand exposure to policy analysis, negotiation, leadership, and professional diplomatic practices.
