ABOUT
Established in 2011 on the premises of the University Campus, Tribhuvan University (TU), the Central Department of Fine Arts (CDFA) is Nepal's apex educational institution in the fine arts domain. The establishment of CDFA can be taken as a significant breakthrough and landmark achievement in the history of Fine Arts education in Nepal; until yesterday, students aspiring to higher studies in fine arts had to obtain degrees from foreign institutes, but now they have an opportunity to pursue their higher education in the country itself. Students, artists and research scholars can have quality education in affordable fee and earn Mastsignatureer, MPhil and PhD degrees. This is the space to sharpen the craftsmanship, broaden the creative horizon and carve the unique work having distinct.
Goal
The major goal of CDFA is to offer a range of the high quality academic, artistic, pre-professional, and professional programs within a liberal arts environment. Nurturing skillful independent artists and scholars, who contribute to the art heritage of Nepal and work to refine the human sensibilities, is our prime focus.
Objectives
- To develop and strengthen the network of fine arts activities in Nepal and set up channels for skill and knowledge transfer and exchange along with prestigious academic degrees
- To enhance students' understanding and appreciation of the arts, and foster interaction between music, painting, sculpture and the liberal arts
- To enrich the department and the surroundings through various intellectual activities
- To support student research and collaborations through publications and performances
- To cultivate new approaches to performance, scholarship, and education through collaborations among various genres of fine arts
- To promote fine arts in Nepal in holistic manner
