Among different types of Nursing Degree, Proficiency Certificate Level (PCL) Nursing is one of the most sought-after and demanding medical professional courses chosen by students after their Secondary Education Examination(SEE).
Globally recognized, PCL Nursing is one of the practiced medical course designed to produce middle level trained workforce to extend roles and responsibilities for the overall welfare of the patients. Like other, Nursing has been evolving and there have been development of Nursing theory that has been applied into nursing world. This course provides both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills necessary to produce professional and responsible nurses for providing promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services.
In Nepal, various colleges offers PCL Nursing in affiliation with CTEVT.
As per the Gender-related policy of Government of Nepal, Nepal Nursing Council has decided to allow male students to study nursing as per the decision of Ashadh 5, 2075 and to include 15 percent of male students.
Career opportunities of PCL Nursing
After the completion of this course, students can pursue B.Sc Nursing, M.Sc Nursing and further Ph.D and can work in hospital, community centers, schools, clinics and other setting. Eligibility of PCL Nursing
To apply for this program, candidates should passed SEE with minimum GPA 2.0 and C grade in Compulsory Mathematics, English & Science.
PCL Nursing- CTEVT
The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) started Proficiency certificate level (PCL) in nursing programme in 1999 AD (2056 BS). However, to provide vertical and horizontal access to PCL nursing graduates, with kind permission of Tribhuvan University (TU), Institute of Medicine (IOM), CTEVT started using the TU, IOM curriculum for PCL nursing.
