Admissions for PhD Programs: Tribhuvan University Institute of Science and Technology

Tribhuvan University, Institute of Science and Technology has published the entrance examination notice for Ph.D.rams for the academic year 2080. Candidates must register their names with the appropriate central department's division research committee, and those who pass the proposal defense are qualified to participate in the entrance test.

Entrance Exam Questions

A total of 100 objective Questions will be asked; of which 70% weightage is given to respective subjects and 30% weightage is given to questions related with Research Methodology.

Minimum Eligibility for the PhD program

  1. A candidate must pass entrance exam conducted by IOST, TU. 
  2. A candidate requires at least second division or 3.0/4.0 CGPA in the master level (M.Sc in respective discipline or MA in Mathematics and Statistics from TU or from any University recognized by TU). 
  3. Candidate passed with 2nd division or 3/4 CGPA must have 2 years work experience. 
  4. Candidate passed with 1st division or 3.3/4.0 CGPA must have 1 year work experience. 
  5. Candidate passed with distinction or 3/7/4 CGPA need not require work experience. 
  6. For interdisciplinary: Candidate must complete 30 Credit Hour conversion course. Candidate who takes 30 CH course after joining the deparment he/she will be eligible to be awarded PhD degree from that department. 
  7. Priority will be given to those candidate who has atleast one paper in peer reviewed Journal. This will be applicable while registering in the department.

  7. Recommendation of CDRC
  8. No Objection Letter from Office if employed
  9. Nature of Job and Experience Letter
  10. Assurance letter of study leave from the employer for full time researcher candidate (पूर्णकालीन शोधार्थीको रूपमा भर्ना हुन चाहने त्रि. वि. मा कार्यरत शिक्षकको हकमा शिक्षाध्यक्षको कार्यालय, समन्वय महाशाखाबाट पूर्वस्वीकृतिपत्र लिएको हुनुपर्ने । अन्यको हकमा NOC पेस गर्नुपर्ने)
