The Department of Environmental Science and Engineering (DESE), Kathmandu University is running a project entitled Establishing the Circular Economy-based livestock sector through collaborative Educational and Research activities (CEER; Project number: 2021/10345). The project aims to contribute toward self-sufficiency in the animal feed sector via joint educational and research activities between Norway (Nord University) and Nepal (Kathmandu University and Agriculture and Forestry University). The main objective of the project is to identify and utilize alternative and environment-friendly feeding resources to address the adverse climate change impacts. In this context, KUSOS is looking for the application of interested, qualified, hardworking, and result-oriented professionals to contribute to the project through Ph.D. research in the area of identifying and evaluating aquatic plants as novel feeding materials. Potential components of this research could be the nutritive value of the plants and potentiality of resource conversion of problematic aquatic plants; rearing aquatic plants in waste/water for material uptake; hydroponic farming; aquatic plants as a source of food and nutrition supplement, etc.

Eligibility

  • Minimum 17 years of formal education.
  • Completed Master's degree in relevant subject with first division or CGPA 3.0 or equivalent.
  • Proficient in the English language.
  • Excellent academic achievements and experience in research and scientific publications.

As the project supports inclusive learning and capacity building, students from various marginalized communities (females, disabled, minority, and disadvantaged groups, etc.) are encouraged to apply.
