Application call for PhD admission at Agriculture and Forestry University
Agriculture and Forestry University, Directorate of Post Graduate Program announces the application call for PhD admission (PhD by Course and Research, and PhD by Research) for November 2021 (Mangsir, 2078) session in different Departments. Applicants are requested to submit the PhD Admission Application Form that can be downloaded at
http://afu.edu.np/sites/default/files/PhD_Admission_Applicantion_Form_AFU.pdf with details of the information required in the form, and other necessary documents. Incomplete forms will not be evaluated for admission.
Deadline date for application submission: Poush 28, 2078 / January 12, 2022 (4:00 PM)
Requirements and eligibility details:
PhD by Course and Research
An applicant must have M.Sc. degree in first division (in division scale) or with CGPA 3.25 (in 4.0 scale CGPA) in the related/relevant field. However, prerequisite courses may be required for eligibility based on M.Sc. degree obtained.
The applicant must have published at least one research article in the referred journal as a first author.
The applicant must have graduated from an institution where undergraduate and postgraduate teaching medium is English. However, special cases could be reviewed by the committee.
The applicant must submit confidential letters of recommendation from two referees who would be in a position to judge academic and research capabilities of the candidate to undertake the PhD study successfully. At least one of the letters must be from a university professor of the relevant subject.
The applicant must submit an acceptable concept research proposal for PhD dissertation. The applicant must have assured research fund.
PhD by Research
An applicant must have a minimum of continuous 5 years of experience in academic, research or development after M.Sc. degree in the related/relevant field. However, prerequisite courses may be required for eligibility based on M.Sc. degree obtained.
The candidate having first division (in division scale) or CGPA 3.25 (in 4.0 scale CGPA) must have published at least two research articles and candidate having second division (in division scale) or CGPA 2.75 (in 4.0 scale CGPA) must have published at least three research articles in the referred journal as a first author.
The candidate must have graduated from an institution where undergraduate and postgraduate teaching medium is English. However, special cases could be reviewed by the committee.

Method of application submission: By email to pgsc@afu.edu.np (scan copies), OR, to the Post Graduate Office (in person). In case of submission through email, original hard copies need to be submitted at the time of admission.

Selection process
PhD committee will evaluate the documents and decide for the admission offer by Magh 7, 2078 (January 21, 2022). If the number of application exceeds than the number of seats available in each Department, PhD committee will set the criteria and select on competitive basis. Major advisor will be assigned by the PhD committee at the time of admission offer.
