Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences announces applications open for enrolment in PhD Program in Health Sciences related from the eligible candidates for the year 2022.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should have: 

Postgraduate qualifications, minimum of 18 years duration (10+2+4+2) with First division/CGPA 3.0 on a Scale of 4.0 in related subjects and minimum of 2 years work experience in the health-related academic institution after postgraduate qualifications.

Or

Postgraduate qualifications, minimum of 17 years duration with First division/CGPA 3 on a scale of 4.0 in related subjects and minimum of 3 years work experience in a health-related academic institution after postgraduate qualifications.

Course Duration

  • Minimum of 3 years and maximum of 5 years for a full-time candidate 
  • Minimum of 4 years and a maximum of 6 years for a part-time candidate

Application Form, Submission Process, and Deadline 

The eligible candidates must fill up and submit the application form available from the office of the Examination, Clinical Sciences, Dhulikhel Hospital with a copy of the bank voucher of Nepal Investment Bank worth NRs.5000/- each form (nonrefundable), deposited in the name of KUSMS Account Number: 00505030017934 on or before 15 November 2022. The deposit can be made through any branch of the Nepal Investment Bank

Along with the application form, the candidates for the Ph.D. program must also submit the following documents: 

  1. Statement of purpose: It should include the candidate's purpose of applying to this program, proposed area of specialization, future plan, and additional relevant information that helps the selection committee in evaluating the application for this Ph.D. 
  2. Proposed research concept: The research concept shall outline the research that the candidate is proposing for the doctoral degree. The concept should consist of an Introduction and a short literature review with a research gap. Scope, Objective, Proposed methodology, expected outcomes, references, and grant chart. The concept paper should not exceed 2000 words. 
  3. A portfolio of works and, a list of publications that reflect the currently proposed research concept. The articles or, editorials published in the local newspapers will not be entertained.
  4. Two letters of recommendation from referees, one of which shall be preferably from an academic referee. 
  5. The candidate must clearly state the interesting topic with the relevant department and must provide the required document.

The total academic fee for the program is NRs. 5,90,000. The fee structure can be revised by the institution as necessary. The fee does not include the funds required for the research works. The candidate is expected to find the sponsorship or arrange the fund by themselves as necessary for the research works.
