Keele University was established as the result of a trailblazing idea for a distinct type of university. The University was founded in 1949 by Lord Lindsay, a former vice-chancellor of Oxford University, in a nation still recovering from World War II. Its initial goal was to produce graduates with the technical and specialized knowledge to advance society as well as an understanding of the social and political environment that drove this need.
After over 75 years, the University's goal still centers on the original spirit, and its global network of over 100,000 alumni in 120 countries is making a good difference in the world through a variety of unique occupations.
