Bangad Kupinde Municipality lies in the northwestern part of Salyan District under Karnali Province in the midsection of the Mahabharat mountain range. Bordered by Kumakh and Siddhakhumakh Rural Municipalities to the east, Surkhet District to the west, Jajarkot District to the north, and Sharda Municipality and Kalimati Rural Municipality to the south, this region boasts a rich natural heritage and cultural diversity. Established on Falgun 27, 2073 BS, following the Government of Nepal’s restructuring, the municipality was formed by merging seven former Village Development Committees (VDCs): Devasthal, Bame, Mulkhola, Ghajari Pipal, Kupinde daha, Majhkada, and Nigalachula. Organized into 12 wards, the municipality derives its name from the Vanagadi culture, deeply rooted in the former Devasthal, Bame, Ghajari Pipal, and Mulkhola VDCs, and the iconic Kupinde Lake, symbolizing its unique identity.
