The Government of Nepal aims to provide basic health services to all by establishing a comprehensive health network. To support this, the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) is developing middle-level Ayurveda health service providers, specifically Health Assistants (Ayurveda), through a three-year "Proficiency Certificate Level in Health Science (Ayurveda)" program. This competency-based curriculum focuses on equipping graduates with skills in Ayurveda and general medicine for curative, preventive, and promotive healthcare, aligning with national development goals and aiming to produce employable professionals for the health sector.
The program aims to produce middle-level technical personnel with sound academic knowledge, equipped with perfect technical skills that can be applied in real-life situations.
The total duration of this curricular program is three academic years. The program is based on a yearly system. Moreover, one academic year consists of up to 39 weeks, and one academic week consists of up to 40 hours, excluding the evaluation period.
The graduates will be eligible for the position equivalent to Non-gazetted 1st class/level 5 (technical) as " Ayurveda " or as prescribed by the Public Service Commission or the concerned authorities of Nepal. The graduates would be eligible for registration with the Nepal Ayurveda Medical Council in the category as mentioned in the Act of the Council.
