Bridge Course

Nepal Government, Ministry of Information and Communications, Film Development Board (FDB), Chabahil, Kathmandu announces scholarships for PhD, MPhil, Bachelors, and Short Courses for 2080.

Film Development Board (FDB) was established on 30 June 2000 by the Government of Nepal according to the existing Motion Picture (Production, Exhibition and Distribution) Act amended on 20th November 1991.

For the Development of the Nepalese Film Industry, It Provides Scholarships for those students who want to study film-related courses. 

Eligibility

Eligible Nepalese students, researchers, and researchers studying related subjects for scholarships to be provided by the board to encourage film-related studies, research, and scholarship.

Scholarship Details

1. PhD Scholarship: Conducting academic research on film-related subjects - 2 people

2. MPhil Scholarship: Conducted as MPhil on film-related topics - 2 people

3. Post Graduate Scholarship:

  • Conducting research related to films – 2 persons
  • Students who take an optional paper related to film and also write a research paper - 2 people

4. Graduate Scholarship: For a total of 10 (ten) people studying at the graduate level with a core subject related to film,

  • Open side: 5 (five) people
  • For reservation: 5 (five) people
    • Madheshi, Dalit, and tribals – 3 (three) people,
    • For women – 2 (two) people

5. Short course:

  • Students studying short courses with core subjects related to film - 2 people

Documents Required

  • Rs. 10.- Application form with postal stamp,
  • Copy of Nepali Citizenship Certificate,
  • Copies of certificates of educational qualification
  • A copy of the recommendation for scholarship by the local body, educational institution, or any other body,
  • Recommendation letter/certificate from the concerned body or commission in case of women, Madhesi, disabled, Dalit, tribals, and family of martyrs.
  • Copy of approved research proposal in case of Master's, Doctorate, or Undergraduate level.
  • Also, a certified document of recommendation from the local authority for the scholarship
  • Documents proving previous experience working in movies and other documents, including recommendations to assist in scholarship selection.

Interested and Eligible Nepalese candidates are encouraged to apply for the scholarship within 15 days of publication of this notice, i.e., Mangsir 05, 2080 (November 21, 2023).
