Integrated Rural Development Project (IRDP) of Nepal by Strengthening Research and Development Capacity of Kathmandu University Call for Applications: KOICA-IRDP Pilot Project Funding Support Program

Background

IRDP is a KOICA-funded project jointly managed by Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal, Chonbuk National University (CBNU), Korea and Science and Technology Policy Institute (STEPI), Korea.

The main objectives of the KOICA-IRDP are:

1. Contribute for integrated rural development of Nepal by strengthening research and development capacity of Kathmandu University.
2. Promote technology innovation, mainly in the field of Agriculture & Rural Development, Renewable Energy and Health related livelihood, for improving quality of life and income status of people in rural communities of Nepal.

Call for Pilot Project Application

KOICA-IRDP pilot project application is open for all Nepalese Research Institutions (University, College and other organizations qualifying as research institutions) for supporting pilot projects that are relevant to Rural Development of Nepal.

These projects aim to

1. Support technologies development to solve economic and social problems of rural areas in Nepal
2. Develop a business model or commercialize for propagation of innovative technologies
3. Test if an operation plan of technology development support programs is valid and feasible
4. Generate information that is crucial for future technological innovations for rural development

The preferred areas for the proposal are:

1. Agriculture and rural development sector
2. New & renewable energy sector
3. Health sector related to rural livelihood
4. Other sectors contributing to integrated rural development
