  • Medal Name: Chancellor Medal (Kulapati Padak)

  • Recipient Criteria (Historical): Awarded to the student achieving the highest marks across all nine postgraduate subjects.
  • Award Occasion: Presented annually on TU's convocation day.
  • Status Change: Discontinued starting from 2023.
  • Reason for Discontinuation:
    • The shift to a semester-based grading system.
    • This system makes it difficult or impossible to distinguish a single "best" student with the highest marks across all subjects, unlike the previous marks-based system, where a top student based on percentage could be identified.

The Tribhuvan University Chancellor Medal (Kulapati Padak), traditionally awarded annually at convocation to the postgraduate student with the highest marks across all nine subjects, consisted of three tolas of gold and a certificate. Due to the implementation of a semester-based grading system making it impossible to definitively identify a single top student, the university discontinued awarding this medal starting in 2023.
