At a special ceremony held on Friday in Dhobighat, Lalitpur, Suraj Subedi, a young personality actively engaged in literary analysis of Nepali music and creative writing, was honored with the “Kavi Kshetrapratap Adhikari Youth Encouragement Award–2082.”
The award was presented during “NCM Day–2082,” jointly organized by Gurukul Education Foundation and Nepal College of Management (NCM). Subedi received a cash prize of NPR 50,000, along with a trophy and a medal.
Subedi has been analyzing the diminishing literary depth, meaning, context, and nuances in Nepali songs through his video series Subtext with Suraj. Through Asian Writes, he has also been playing a leading role in inspiring the new generation toward creative writing.
While accepting the award, Subedi expressed that being recognized for work driven by his passion and personal interest has given him a stronger sense of responsibility and encouragement.
Program coordinator Amanpratap Adhikari stated that the “Encouragement Award” was introduced last year to motivate emerging talents toward creative pursuits. He shared that the initiative aims to guide rising talents toward a brighter path, inspired by the ideals and legacy of Kshetrapratap Adhikari, and to keep his memory alive while encouraging the younger generation to move forward with dedication.
Last year, the “Kavi Kshetrapratap Adhikari Youth Encouragement Award–2081” was presented to Renuka Nagarkote, a midfielder of the Nepal national women’s football team. According to the organizers, this encouragement award is presented annually to young talents making notable contributions in different fields.
