Tarkeshwor Municipality has released the notice about regulating school fees and enforcing rules for institutional (private) school for the academic year 2083. As per the decision of the municipality dated 2080/12/30, the monthly fee structure determined for the academic session 2081 has also been fixed for the academic session 2083. Therefore, arrangements should be made to charge and collect monthly fees accordingly.
This fee structure aims to maintain uniformity and transparency, ensure affordability in education, protect the rights of students and guardians and improve the overall quality and accountability of schools.
1. Monthly Fee Structure

2. Additional Fees and Charges
Schools may charge only the following fees besides the monthly tuition:
- Examination Fee (after conducting exams)
- Computer Fee (only for students studying computer subjects)
- Educational Certificate Fee
- Internal Competition/Activity Fee
3. Fee Guidelines and Limits
- Admission Fee:
Equivalent to one month’s tuition fee only. - Annual Fee:
Must be reasonable and related to school services (library, lab, extracurricular activities). - Examination Fee:
Should not exceed 50% of the monthly fee annually. - Educational Materials Fee:
Maximum 10% of monthly fee annually.
4. Key Provisions
- No unauthorized fees shall be charged from students/guardians.
- Approved textbooks only (from Curriculum Development Centre) must be used.
- Schools must ensure transparency in fee collection.
- Teacher and staff salaries must be managed through proper systems (e.g., bank accounts).
- All school data must be updated in the EMIS system.
- Scholarship provisions must be implemented as per government rules.
5. Compliance Requirement
All institutional schools must:
- Follow municipal decisions strictly.
- Avoid imposing unnecessary financial burden on parents.
- Ensure fair and uniform fee practices.
Failure to comply with these provisions may result in municipal action as per prevailing laws.
