The premises of Nepal College of Management (NCM) in Dhobighat, Lalitpur, turned festive on Friday as popular young comedian Aayush Shrestha engaged the audience with his captivating and satirical performance. The venue echoed with laughter as students and guests enjoyed the show.
Organized jointly by Gurukul Education Foundation and Nepal College of Management, “NCM Day–2082” featured Aayush’s performance alongside the distribution of awards and recognitions across various categories.
The main highlight of the event was the recognition of young poet Simeyon Sukita Rai from Sikkim with the “Gambensi Ka Kavi Kshetrapratap Adhikari Youth Literature Award–2082.” He was honored for his poetry collection Simeyon Symphony and received a cash prize of NPR 50,000, along with a trophy and a medal.
While accepting the award, Rai recalled learning to write poetry while doing daily chores in rural Sikkim and expressed that receiving recognition beyond borders has deepened his sense of responsibility. The top four nominees in this category included Sandhyama Surya by Umesh Awasthi Adarsha, Ghamko Jara by Sabina Rai, and Ekdin Manisharu Farkinechan by Dostaj.
Last year, the award was presented to young poet Season Shrestha for Hawama Aljhiyeko Swar. Other notable works included Lati by Pallaviv, Ka by Subhasis, and Jaba Kavita Niskanchha Julusma by Suraj Rana.
Similarly, Suraj Subedi was honored with the “Kavi Kshetrapratap Adhikari Youth Encouragement Award–2082” for his contribution to the literary depth and analysis of Nepali music. The NPR 50,000 award recognized his work through Subtext with Suraj and Asian Writes.
Subedi shared that receiving recognition for work driven by his passion has further encouraged him.
According to award coordinator Amanpratap Adhikari, the award was established to preserve the literary legacy of the late Kshetrapratap Adhikari and to inspire the new generation through his ideals and cultural roots.
Last year, the encouragement award was presented to Renuka Nagarkote, a midfielder of the Nepal national women’s football team.
In the cultural segment, Rohit Tandukar secured first place in the NCM Comedy Competition. Other notable performers included Bishal Sherpa, Gaurav Khatri, Mahesh Khanal, and Nitesh Yadav.
In the NCM Poetry Award–2082, Kajal Pun Magar won first place, while in the NCM Dance Award category, Supriya Pradhan and group were declared winners. Last year’s winners in these categories included Gunjan Rai (poetry), Prashna and team (dance), and Begendra Budhathoki (cover artist).
The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Achyut Wagle (Vice Chancellor, KUSOM) and Special Guest Dr. Vijay KC (Dean, KUSOM). Associate Principal Dr. Prem Prasad Silwal delivered the welcome address. With strong student participation and a vibrant literary and cultural atmosphere, NCM Day–2082 concluded successfully.
