The Computer Engineering and Tech Club (CITC) of the Department of Computer Engineering at Nepal College of Information Technology (NCIT), Balkumari, successfully organized 'KAVACH: Capture the Flag (CTF)', on 11 July, 2026, an inter-college cybersecurity competition aimed at promoting cybersecurity awareness, practical learning, and collaboration among students from higher education institutions across Nepal.

Organized in collaboration with the Nepal Tek Community (NTK), the event featured Y3TI@SEC as the Technical Partner, which was responsible for designing the cybersecurity challenges and providing technical support throughout the competition. The event also received support from community partners including Pentester Nepal, BSides Kathmandu, and OWASP Kathmandu for event promotion, while Webgrade Hosting served as the Hosting Partner and TechAxis joined as the Education Partner.

The competition attracted 53 students representing 30 teams, including 23 two-member teams and 7 individual participants. Students from NCIT, Softwarica College, Herald College, Texas College, KIST College, Trinity International College, Shankar Dev Campus, Cosmos College, and several other institutions participated in the event.

The program began with a welcome session and technical briefing by Y3TI@SEC, followed by a three-hour Capture the Flag competition where participants solved practical cybersecurity challenges based on real-world scenarios. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony recognizing the top-performing teams.

Team Prism from Softwarica College secured the first position with a winning score of 4,252. The team received a 100 percent scholarship for a TechAxis course, a cash prize, and a gift hamper. Team Sudo_Siblings, also from Softwarica College, secured second place and received a 50 percent course scholarship along with a cash prize. Team Cozy Bears from Texas College claimed third position and was awarded a 30 percent course scholarship and a cash prize.

Beyond the competition, TechAxis announced a one-year partnership with CITC, extending additional benefits to the organizing team, including a 50 percent discount on its courses.

According to the organizers, participants expressed highly positive feedback, particularly appreciating the practical, hands-on nature of the cybersecurity challenges. The competition provided students with valuable exposure to real-world cybersecurity problem-solving while encouraging collaboration, knowledge sharing, and networking among aspiring cybersecurity professionals.

Through initiatives such as KAVACH: Capture the Flag, CITC continues to promote experiential learning and strengthen Nepal's growing cybersecurity ecosystem by connecting students with industry experts, professional communities, and emerging opportunities in information security.
