Kathmandu Model College (KMC), Bagbazar, has successfully hosted a landmark event in Nepal’s information technology sector by organizing the country’s first-ever national-level hackathon exclusively for Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) students. Titled "Honor Presents KMC Hackverse 2026," the 48-hour intensive program was organized by the KMC Techverse Club and held at the college premises from Ashar 5 to 7. This pioneering initiative provided a dedicated platform for BCA students from across the country to demonstrate their technical creativity and problem-solving skills on a national stage.

The event commenced with an opening session where participants were introduced to the hackathon's objectives, rules, and the rigorous evaluation process. Chiranjibi Adhikari, Acting President of the Computer Association Nepal (CAN) Federation, served as the keynote speaker, inspiring the young coders to utilize technology and innovation to address real-life challenges through collaborative efforts. Following the opening, selected teams from various colleges embarked on a continuous 48-hour journey to develop projects based on diverse sub-themes. Throughout the competition, the participants received valuable guidance and mentorship from experts in the IT and innovation sectors.

The hackathon concluded with a closing ceremony where teams presented their final projects and prototypes to a distinguished panel of expert judges. Each project was carefully evaluated based on its innovation, technical implementation, feasibility, effectiveness, and presentation quality. In a highly competitive field, "Team Innovators" from Kathmandu Model College, comprising Kasm Thapa Magar, Samrat Ghimire, and Ashok Chaudhary, secured the first position. The first runner-up title was claimed by "Team Mentos" from Prime College, featuring Utsab Dangol, Sanchit Maharjan, Amit Raut, and Bishesh Maharjan. Additionally, "Team A Solve Z" from New Summit College, represented by Ankita Mainali, Yogesh Dahal, and Ayush Shrestha, was declared the second runner-up.

The winners and runners-up were honored with trophies, medals, certificates, and cash prizes. Beyond the monetary rewards, they received attractive gift vouchers, specialized training opportunities, and technology-related facilities from various partner organizations. The organizers noted that the total value of the prizes distributed exceeded 100,000 rupees. Reflecting on the event's success, College Principal Mr. Surendra Subedi emphasized that such programs are instrumental in cultivating innovation, leadership, and practical problem-solving skills among students. Mr. Dhruva Prasad Timalsena, Head of Internal Quality Assurance, added that this BCA-specific national hackathon further strengthens the culture of technical research and education in Nepal. KMC Hackverse 2026 ended as a successful 48-hour celebration of technical creativity, leaving a significant impact on the national BCA community.
