Kathmandu Model College (KMC) Lalitpur hosted a grand alumni reunion at the college auditorium in Balkumari on May 2, 2025, drawing the enthusiastic participation of around 400 former students.
The event, organized by the KMC Lalitpur Alumni Committee, featured a vibrant blend of cultural performances and inspiring interactions. Mr. Achyutam Gautam chaired the event, with Dr. Durga Jung KC, Director of KMC Network Pvt. Ltd., attending as the chief guest. The event also featured musical and cultural showcases, heartfelt reunions, and motivational speeches, significantly strengthening the bond among alumni.
Alumni from diverse professional backgrounds exchanged fond memories and experiences. Despite KMC’s relatively short institutional history, its former students have achieved commendable success in fields such as medicine, business, law, and technology. During the event, alumnus and IDS presenter Mr. Sudip Bhai Subedi acknowledged KMC’s vital role in shaping his personal and professional journey. He emphasized that KMC not only imparted academic knowledge during his two years at the institution but also instilled valuable life skills and ethics.
The gathering highlighted the evolving role of the alumni network—not just as a platform for reunions but as an integral part of institutional development. Alumni collectively pledged their readiness to contribute meaningfully to KMC’s future growth, beyond merely cherishing memories.
Addressing the gathering, Founding Principal of KMC Lalitpur Mr. Surendra Subedi described the relationship between the institution and its students as a “lifelong partnership.” He noted that even after graduation, the connection between students, teachers, and the institution remains strong. “The flame of education we ignited will now be carried across the world by our alumni,” he remarked.
Chairperson Achyutam Gautam stated that the alumni network is grounded in the principle of “Service is the highest virtue.” To give structure and continuity to this active engagement, a new executive committee was elected during the program.
New Executive Committee:
- President: Adip Raut
- Vice Presidents: Merian Karki and Himal Bista
- Secretary: Sunita Khadka
- Treasurer: Saurabh Sah Teli
- Joint Secretary: Minendra Yadav
- Members: Satyam Sundar Sah, Dayal Sharan Satsangi, Ashika Bhandari, Abiskar Dahal, Riju Koirala, Suchana KC, and Sujata Bhattarai
The newly formed committee aims to expand alumni engagement beyond social interaction by launching initiatives focused on educational enhancement, career development, and social impact. The commitments expressed by the attending alumni are expected to further strengthen ties between the college and its alumni network.
For KMC Lalitpur, this gathering marked not just a celebration of shared memories but also a historic opportunity to integrate alumni experience and expertise into the institution’s future development. The college envisions that under new leadership, the alumni network will drive long-term transformation in both education and society.
The program also saw notable participation from former faculty members. KMC Lalitpur Chairman Dr. Durgajang KC and Director of Himalayan Engineering College Mr. Kishor Gautam extended their best wishes to the new committee, while also commending the remarkable work of the outgoing team.
On Baisakh 23, KMC Lalitpur Principal Mr. Makund Kumar Giri officially administered the oath of office and confidentiality to all new committee members. KMC Lalitpur is a prestigious educational institution recognized among the Top 3 Outstanding Colleges by the Ministry of Education, Government of Nepal.
