Kathmandu Model Secondary School, Lalitpur (KMC Lalitpur), in collaboration with Mahalaxmi Municipality, organized the Principals' Leadership Development Program on Jestha 2, 2082. The event was part of the municipality’s regular engagement with schools and reflected KMC Lalitpur’s commitment to social responsibility, bringing together 40 principals from various institutions to discuss leadership and educational transformation.
The program was graced by the honorable Mayor of Mahalaxmi Municipality, Mr. Hari Govinda Shrestha, who commended KMC Lalitpur’s efforts in supporting the municipality’s educational initiatives. In his welcome speech, Mr. Kishor Gautam, Director of KMC, expressed his enthusiasm for facilitating leadership development among school principals. He emphasized the long-term impact of leadership decisions, urging participants to remain conscious of their actions as they directly shape the future of education.
A series of expert-led presentations enriched the program. Prof. Dr. Dhanapathi Subedi delivered a compelling session on Leadership in Action, discussing global leadership trends and their implications for schools in Nepal. He highlighted the urgent need to move beyond traditional pedagogies, advocating for modern teaching-learning strategies that integrate technology. His presentation underscored the importance of teacher professional development, innovative instructional methods, and a shift toward critical thinking and experiential learning.
Adding to the discussions, Mr. Chirinjibi Paudel, Education Director of Mahalaxmi Municipality, presented an overview of the municipality’s educational status, policies, and initiatives. His session provided valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities within the local school system, reinforcing the need for strategic interventions.
Mr. Surendra Subedi, Director of KMC Network, spoke on Transformation in Education, emphasizing the necessity of institutional reforms. He highlighted the integration of Artificial Intelligence in classrooms, collaborative approaches among schools, and strategies to empower teachers while enhancing student engagement. His session inspired participants to rethink traditional educational frameworks and embrace a forward-thinking approach.
Chief guest Mayor Shrestha praised KMC Lalitpur for its leadership in fostering educational excellence and urged schools to organize similar programs to equip principals with the skills needed to drive institutional growth. The program was moderated by College Principal, Mr. Mukunda Kumar Giri, who ensured meaningful discussions and smooth facilitation.
