Sajha Publications, the oldest publishing house of Nepal, was established in 1913 and is funded by the Government of Nepal. Its headquarter is in Lalitpur and regional branches in Biratnagar, Pokhara, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadi. It has published more than 1200 books.

Awards: Sajha Prakashan offers the following awards to inspire seekers dedicated to the field of language, literature, and literature.

A) Common Award: A total of 31 authors of 35 works have been awarded by 2059 BS from this award established in the year 2026 BS to provide the best work among the books of various genres published throughout the year by the joint publication. Currently, the prize money is Rs 25,000.

B) Lok Sahitya Puraskar - Saja Prakashan established the award in 2032 BS according to the author’s wishes of the book entitled Nepali Fiction by late Bodh Bikram Adhikari published by Saja Prakashan. Currently, the prize money is Rs 10,000.

C) Garima Samman Award - This award was established in the year 2052 BS. The prize money is Rs 5,000 in each category.

D) Common Children's Literature Award: This award was established in the year 2054 BS to encourage and honor the creators of children's literature. The prize for the best book of children's literature published in the Nepali language throughout the year from the Kingdom of Nepal is Rs. 10,000.

Salient Features

Sajha publishing extends to the following main areas of work:

(1) Publications - Common Publications under its primary jurisdiction have covered novels, short stories, poetry, essays, plays, critiques, language-grammar, dictionaries, history, science and technology, arts and culture, agriculture, biography, philosophy, and spirituality.

(2) Distribution: Dedicated to the nationwide sale and distribution of Sajha publications. In addition to all school textbooks, Sajha Publications publishes books from more than 40 publishing houses and other private publishers. It also has 27 branches and 437 agents, the central store, and about 2,000 local vendors throughout the country. As the distribution system of Sajha publications is reliable and fast, The Government has given the responsibility of the nationwide distribution of educational materials to Sajha publications. Sajha Prakashan also organizes an annual book exhibition.

(3) Textbook Production: Since crores of rupees are going out of Nepal annually through foreign textbooks, the joint publication has produced textbooks by indigenous scholars to prevent the national property from going abroad and adapting students' textbooks to the national context.

A) Textbooks of Higher Education: Sajha Prakashan has been preparing textbooks under Tribhuvan University and the Council of Higher Secondary Education. The aim is to produce as many textbooks in different disciplines and higher education subjects as possible in the Nepali language.

B) School Level Reference Textbooks: Sajha Prakashan has been producing Nepali climate and environment-friendly reference textbooks at the school level.

(4) Printing: Sajha Prakashan has established a printing press in the year 2035 BS with the objective of providing cheap and quality books to the readers and students. There are five offset printing presses with all the materials required for a modern printing system.

(5) Copy and Stationery Industry: Sajha Prakashan has been operating the copy and stationery industry since 2049 BS to provide quality written material to the entire educational group at affordable prices.

(6) Monthly Magazine Publication: To develop the readers’ reading habits and improve literature, Sajha Prakashan has published the monthly literary magazine Garima since 2039 BS. By October 2061, 263 integers had been issued.
