Under the jurisdiction of Tribhuvan University, the Research Centre for Applied Science and Technology (RECAST) is dedicated only to science and technology research and development.
RECAST conducts research, creates prototypes, and provides knowledge and consulting services, including instrumental and analytical services. It hosts national and international workshops/seminars and makes its laboratory facilities available to postgraduate students from the Faculty of Science's Central Departments for research purposes.
The center aspires to form partnerships with national and international academic institutions, government and private sector organizations, and community-based organizations in order to solve the country's needs through long-term technical advancements. RECAST is committed to helping the country meet its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and graduate from the status of the developing country.
The objective of RECAST are:
- To undertake research for the identification, development, conservation, utilization, and dissemination of indigenous technology.
