Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences | Tribhuvan University

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (FoHSS) was established along with Tribhuvan University in 1959. It is one of the largest faculties and offers the biggest range of programs and courses. FoHSS has the mission of producing informed students and quality human resources required for the nation. FoHSS has prepared a strategic plan in order to revitalize and upgrade the status of humanities and social sciences education.

Their main goal is to upgrade humanities and social sciences education through quality teaching/learning and research activities, including regular updates of courses offered.

Working towards that goal, FOHSS has been offering courses in many different disciplines in humanities and social sciences. There are also  constituent and affiliated colleges spread all over the country that are running these courses. Although most courses offered at the B. A. level lead to Masters and PhD degrees, there are some subjects that are taught at Bachelor’s level only. These include Film Studies, International Languages, Philosophy, and Urdu. Additionally, subjects like Statistics and Mathematics, are also taught under the Institute of Science and Technology instead of Humanities and Social Sciences. I
