Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU) established the School of Development Studies & Applied Sciences in 2019 to realistically connect and contextualize Buddha's teachings with modern concerns and development requirements.
The School has developed three master-level programs. They are:
Vision
Creating a virtuous society with long-term viability through ecologically friendly, economically vibrant, and ethically controlled institutions.
Mission
Develop higher education academic programs in the fields of sustainable development, agroforestry and related subjects, and environmental management that are suited for professional careers as administrators, entrepreneurs, mobilizers, planners, policy-makers, researchers, or instructors.
Values
Implementation of academic programs based on Buddhist philosophy as expressed in the four noble truths relevant to sufferings, such as existence, causes, endings, and remedies, as well as the noble eight-folded path of righteousness on View, Thought, Speech, Conduct, Livelihood, Effort, Mindfulness, and Concentration.
