Education Review Office (ERO) has been established in 2010 with mandates for carrying out an independent performance audit of the schools and institutions under the Ministry of Education system and for assessing the level of student achievement in order to promote the accountability of the institutions and improve the quality of education. Our office is located at Sanothimi, Bhaktapur, Nepal. The following are the main areas of work currently undertaking by ERO:
Capacity Development of ERO
Education Review Office has started a capacity development training of its staff in Large Scale Assessment since February 2021 and will last for more than six months. This Capacity Development is focussing on Analyzing and standard-setting of NASA by using Item Response Theory (IRT). For this purpose, World Bank provided financial Support and Technical Support. The training is facilitated by the CSSl India team and psychometrician Aaron D. USA.
NASA
NASA is a standardized National level survey that was started in 2011 in ERO. First NASA is known as NASA 2011 in which grade 8 Nepali, Mathematics and Social Study assessment was carried out. During the School Sector Reform Plan, two-cycle of grade 3, 5, and 8 assessment was completed. In the School Sector Development Plan, there will be two round assessments of grades 5, 8, and 10 .
EGRA
EGRA stands for Early Grade Reading Assessment. Early Grades are grades 1, 2, and 3 in this context.
CB-EGRA
CB-EGRA stands for Classroom-Based Early Grade Reading Assessment.
