Reconstituted under the 2050 Rules for Organization and Academic Administration, the Curriculum Development Center (CDC) comprises committees tasked with specific duties such as equivalence, credit transfer, grading, verification, and managing compulsory subject committees.
The CDC operates two main sections: equivalence and credit transfer. Its major responsibilities, governed by the rules and decisions of the executive council, include designing, modifying, and publishing courses, administering the equivalence process, verifying its staff's certificates, supervising academic programs of foreign universities conducted in Nepal with government approval, and developing standards and norms for equivalence upon academic council approval.
Functioning both academically and administratively, the CDC is led by the Executive Director under the Office of the Rector. It also has two subject committees for compulsory subjects, Nepali and English, each chaired by a subject expert.
Collaborating with the subject committees, the Curriculum Development Center (CDC) at Tribhuvan University develops compulsory curricula. It conducts seminars, orientation programs, and workshops to ensure effective implementation of these curricula.
Additionally, the CDC serves as the secretariat of the Equivalence Determination Committee Board, led by the Rector of TU, which decides on and provides equivalence for academic certificates obtained from foreign universities.
The CDC also grants institutional equivalence and grading to academic programs in Nepal that operate under government permission. The Executive Director of the CDC is a board member of the Academic Council.
The CDC publishes an annual research journal, the Curriculum Development Journal, and produces and sells the TU curricula and the university's rules and regulations.
