Attempting to preserve age-old Hindu traditions and promote religious continuity, Jagat Prakash Jung Shah Sanskrit Secondary School, located in Devighat Municipality-5, Nuwakot, orchestrated a communal fasting event. This gathering successfully garnered a significant amount of five lakh rupees on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami.

The initiative, aimed at preserving Sanskrit language and promoting communal sentiments, saw enthusiastic participation from various districts including Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading, Chitwan, and Gorakha. Led by Pandit Gokul Sapkota, fourteen priests and students actively engaged in the fasting campaign.

Man Bahadur Dongol, the chairman of the school management committee, disclosed that the school levied a service charge of one thousand rupees per student for participation in the collective fasting. The collected fees, coupled with generous donations, are utilized to compensate private teachers and support the school's operational expenses.

"By adhering to minimal fees while ensuring essential clothing and meals as per religious customs, we alleviate financial burdens on parents and encourage community involvement," Dongol remarked.

Principal Manju Chitrakar underscored the significance of the annual fasting event, emphasizing its role in curbing detrimental customs and preserving the essence of Hindu culture.

Established in 2055 BS, the Jagat Prakash Jung Shah Sanskrit Secondary School currently offers education up to Grade 10. Despite financial constraints, the institution provides free residential facilities and prioritizes the teaching of Sanskrit language. Teachers and students actively contribute to various cultural activities, including Raksha Bandhan celebrations, household food distribution, and ancestral worship, as part of fundraising efforts.

The collective fasting event exemplifies the community's commitment to preserving cultural heritage and fostering educational initiatives in Nuwakot and beyond.
