Local authorities across metropolitan, sub-metropolitan, municipal, and village municipalities have been urged to take proactive measures to ensure fair distribution of scholarships in private schools in a directive issued by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

The directive emphasizes the importance of allocating quotas for scholarships and facilitating the enrollment of students in private educational institutions. It comes as part of the ministry's efforts to promote inclusivity and accessibility in education, particularly in privately-run schools.

At the commencement of each academic session, the directive mandates the implementation of a transparent procedure for student enrollment, scholarship selection, and fee determination. This procedure is aimed at ensuring that deserving students have equal opportunities to access scholarships and education.

Furthermore, the directive highlights the legal obligation for local authorities to propose fee structures for schools within their jurisdictions, adhering to criteria set forth by law. It stresses the importance of making these fee structures publicly available through the respective local government and school websites.

Of particular significance is the directive's provision to address situations where the number of scholarships is reduced after student enrollment. In such cases, the directive instructs authorities to prevent financial barriers from hindering the enrollment of students, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds. It advocates for the provision of free enrollment to students who miss out on scholarships due to quota limitations.

This directive underscores the government's commitment to promoting equitable access to education and ensuring that no student is left behind due to financial constraints. By empowering local authorities to implement these measures effectively, the ministry aims to create a more inclusive and accessible educational landscape in private schools across the country.
