The Karnali Academy of Health Sciences in Jumla announced its plan to offer master's level education in Public Health and Pharmacy. The decision follows the distribution of seats for the current financial year 2080-81 by the Medical Education Commission.
Dr. Mangal Rawal, Vice-Chancellor of Karnali Institute of Health Sciences, shared that the Medical Education Service Commission has allocated 11 seats for post-graduate medical education in public health and pharmacy. Among these, eight are open, two are government, and one is reserved for foreign candidates.
The institute has been granted nine seats in General Practices and Emergency Medicine (MDGP and EM), one in Orthopedics, two in Pediatrics, five in Public Health, and two in Clinical Pharmacy under the Master of Public Health program.
Vice-Chancellor Rawal expressed the significance of this achievement, stating that after persistent efforts, the institute has gained the opportunity to provide MD/MS education in public health, marking a significant milestone for the citizens of the Himalayan district.
He emphasized that offering post-graduate medical education in public health will be a pivotal moment for both the institute and the Himalayan district. Notably, the institute had previously conducted training programs for post-graduate students in various medical fields such as general practice, orthopedics, medicine, anesthesia, and pediatrics.
