Dr. Fish Emerges Victorious in Hult Prize at Kathmandu University 2024

The Canadian Study Centre recently hosted the Hult Prize Grand Finale at Kathmandu University, Dhulikhel. Sponsored by the Agni Group | Mahindra, the event showcased the culmination of innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit among young minds.

Five finalist teams, including "Kodo ko Khaja," "Dr. Fish," "Sarva," "Hempire," and "Ladies with the Lamp," emerged from a competitive semi-final held at KUSOM, Balkumari. These teams presented meticulously crafted business proposals aimed at addressing pressing societal challenges.

A distinguished panel of seven judges lent their expertise to evaluate the proposals. Among them were Anima Piya, Co-founder of Zero Circular, renowned for her advocacy in sustainability; Preeti Adhikary, Founder of the Great Nepali Diaspora, bringing top-tier management insights; and Raj Bikram Maharjan, CEO of Galli Maps, offering valuable startup perspectives.

Also present were Sajan Gautam, 'Entrepreneur at Residence' at Fuel Accelerator, and Shashank Das Verma, Founder and CEO of Khudra Asia, enriching the judging panel with seasoned entrepreneurial wisdom. Veda Shrestha, Vice President at Agni Group | Mahindra, and Sarad Banjara, CEO of Varosa Technology, rounded off the panel with their diverse expertise.

The event commenced with a ceremonial Panas Lighting by Aishwarya Khulal, Senior Student Advisor and Branch Manager at Canadian Study Center, followed by engaging remarks from Khulal and Veda Shrestha. Traditional dances, including the vibrant Kauda dance, added a cultural touch to the proceedings, fostering a sense of community among participants and attendees.

The pitching competition ensued, with each team allotted a four-minute presentation slot, followed by a rigorous four-minute Q&A session with the judges. Transparency and fairness were ensured as judges meticulously scored each presentation.

Amidst the anticipation, the climax arrived with the announcement of the winners: "Dr. Fish" clinched the top spot, followed by "Hempire" as the Runner Up and "Kodo Ko Khaja" as the Second Runner Up. The winning teams received cash prizes, gifts, and vouchers from generous sponsors, including Donut Drools, Juice Mandala, and more.

The event concluded with heartfelt tokens of appreciation presented to the judges and guests by the Campus Director and Deputy Campus Director. Their gratitude extended to all participants and contributors whose efforts elevated the event to a resounding success, showcasing the power of entrepreneurship in driving positive change in society.
