Dadeldhura Medical College Planning To Run Classes From This Year

Activities have been forwarded making strategic plans in order to bring Dadeldhura Medical College into operation. A total of 84 ropanis of land located at Tuphandanda of Dadeldhura has already been received in the name of Sudurpaschim University for the operation of the medical college.

Similarly, there are 234 ropanis of land in the name of Dadeldhura Regional Hospital. Sudurpaschim University has forwarded the process for the construction of a medical college by establishing the office of the Dean in Dadeldhura. Vice-Chancellor of Sudurpaschim University, Ammaraj Joshi said activities related to detailed project reports for the construction of different infrastructures including administrative building and hostel was underway.

He mentioned, "We have been carrying out activities to enroll the students from this academic session and the University has taken the curriculum preparation task to the final phase." Vice-Chancellor Joshi shared, "Dadeldhura Hospital has now a capacity of 100-bed and it would be expanded to 300 beds in the beginning." Although the government had decided to run Dadelhdhura Hospital as the constituent campus of the Sudurpaschim University, it was not operated in lack of budget.

Students of Sudurpaschim Province would have access to medical education and people across the province would get specialist treatment services once medical college comes into operation in Dadeldhura, he viewed. An agreement has already been reached among the Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and Sudurpaschim University for the same.

Dean of Medical College, Dr. Hemnath Joshi, said only Bachelor's level classes could be run for the time being as Dadeldhura regional hospital has only 100 beds. "We have already sent a letter to Medical Education Commission for running Bachelor's level classes", he shared, adding preparation was underway to enroll students in coming February.
