The Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD) under the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology has directed all local governments across the country to ensure that the education of students affected by the ongoing relocation of high-risk settlements is not disrupted.

In a circular issued by the Education and Human Resource Development Center today, the government outlined immediate measures to protect the educational rights of children living in vulnerable areas.

Keeping in mind the possibility that students from such settlements may be deprived of basic facilities such as school access, regular attendance, educational materials, and a safe environment, the Center has directed local authorities with the following point facilitation plan to guarantee the continuity of their studies.

  1. Facilitation of Student Transfer: Coordinate as necessary to create a conducive environment for transferring affected students to schools that are convenient (nearby) for them.
  2. Submission of Progress Reports: Arrange to send progress reports regarding student transfers, adjustments, and the continuity of teaching and learning to this Center.
  3. Facilitation for Grade 12 Examinees: Arrange necessary transportation and other facilitation for Grade 12 students to ensure they can travel safely to and from their designated examination centers.
  4. School Merger and Sustainable Management: Evaluate the condition of schools affected by disorganized settlements and make/implement necessary decisions regarding their sustainable relocation or merger with nearby suitable schools.
  5. Coordination and Collaboration: Ensure the necessary coordination and collaboration among schools, parents, and other stakeholder agencies to implement the aforementioned tasks.
  6. Others: It is requested to implement the specified tasks with high priority and pay special attention to maintaining the continuity of students' education. Additionally, CEHRD requested that local levels to inform or update the centre regarding any problems encountered or suggestions during the implementation process.
