Thakurbaba Municipality is one of the 8 municipalities in Bardiya District of Lumbini Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 49,420, comprising 22,870 males (46.3%) and 26,550 females (53.7%), with a literacy rate of 77.96%. Spanning 104.57 square kilometers, Thakurbaba Municipality exhibits the population density of 473 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 9 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Thakurbaba has 33 schools. Of these, 12 are private and 21 are public.
