Tarakeshwor

Tarakeshwor Municipality is one of the 11 municipalities in Kathmandu District of Bagmati Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 151,479, comprising 75,281 males (49.7%) and 76,198 females (50.3%), with a literacy rate of 87.84%. Spanning 54.95 square kilometers, Tarakeshwor Municipality exhibits the population density of 2,757 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 11 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Tarakeshwor has 98 schools. Of these, 71 are private and 24 are public. The breakdown includes 70 pre-schools, 90 basic schools, and 66 secondary schools. Among the secondary schools, 19 offer +2 programs.
