Sunwarshi Municipality is one of the 17 municipalities in Morang District of Koshi Province. As per the 2021 census, the municipality has a total population of 56,034, comprising 26,995 males (48.2%) and 29,039 females (51.8%), with a literacy rate of 68%. Spanning 106.4 square kilometers, Sunwarshi Municipality exhibits the population density of 527 people per square kilometer. Administratively, it is divided into 9 wards.

According to the latest publicly available report of the Center for Education and Human Resource Development (CEHRD), Sunwarshi has 59 schools. Of these, 15 are private and 35 are public.
